IGS - International Geosynthetics Society

The IGS is a learned society dedicated to the scientific and engineering development of geotextiles, geomembranes, related products and associated technologies. We have 34 chapters, over 2,800 individual members and 143 corporate members.

The International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) was founded in Paris, on 10 November 1983, by a group of geotechnical engineers and textile specialists. The Society brings together individual and corporate members from all parts of the world, who are involved in the design, manufacture, sale, use or testing of geotextiles, geomembranes, related products and associated technologies, or who teach or conduct research about such products.

The aims of the IGS are:
  • to collect and disseminate knowledge on all matters relevant to geotextiles, geomembranes and related products, e.g. by promoting seminars, conferences, etc.
  • to promote advancement of the state of the art of geotextiles, geomembranes and related products and of their applications, e.g. by encouraging, through its members, the harmonization of test methods, equipment and criteria.
  • to improve communication and understanding regarding such products, e.g. between designers, manufacturers and users and especially between the textile and civil engineering communities
The IGS is registered in the USA as a non-profit organization. It is managed by five Officers and a Council made up of 10 to 16 elected members and a maximum of 5 additional co-opted members. These Officers and Council members are responsible to the General Assembly of members which elects them and decides on the main orientations of the Society.

 GMA - Geosynthetics Materials Association

The Geosynthetic Materials Association is the central resource for information on geosynthetics. GMA provides a forum for consistent and accurate information to increase acceptance and promote the correct use of geosynthetics.

The Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA), a division of the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI), is the central resource for information on geosynthetics. GMA provides a forum for consistent and accurate information to increase acceptance and promote the correct use of geosynthetics.
The Geosynthetic Materials Association is dedicated to member success, representing nearly 80 member companies. GMA actively identifies, assesses, analyzes and acts upon market growth opportunities and issues that affect its member companies. Activities center on five areas: engineering support, business development, education, government relations and industry recognition

IFAI - Industrial Fabrics Association International

The Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) is a not-for-profit trade association comprised of member companies representing the international specialty fabrics marketplace. Member companies range in size from one-person shops to multinational corporations. Members’ products cover the broad spectrum of specialty fabrics and include fibers, fabrics, end products, equipment and hardware. IFAI is the largest, most comprehensive trade association serving this industry, and provides value to its members through:
  • Trade shows and events
  • Publications
  • Special interest groups
  • Sourcing and information hotline
  • Technical services
  • Legislative updates
  • Business services
  • Certification and awards programs
  • Educational programs
  • Industry resources

GSI - Geosynthetics Institute

GSI's Mission is to develop and transfer knowledge, assess and critique geosynthetics, and provide services to the member organizations.
The Geosynthetic Institute (GSI) is a consortium of organizations interested in, and involved with, geosynthetics.  All types of polymeric geosynthetic materials are involved: geotextiles, geomembranes, geogrids, geonets, geocomposites, geosynthetic clay liners, geopipe, geocells, and geofoam. The organizations include federal and state governmental agencies, facility owners, designers, consultants, QC and QA organizations, testing laboratories, resin and additive suppliers, manufacturers, manufacturer's representatives and installation contractors. GSI currently consists of 71 member organizations of which ca. 45% are international.

IAGI - International Association of Geosynthetics Installer

IAGI strives to provide a forum for geosynthetics installers to advance installation and construction techniques, and to strengthen the knowledge, image and communication within the industry.

History
Founded in 1995, the International Association of Geosynthetic Installers is the national professional association representing geosynthetic material installers and their industry partners. The first group of geosynthetic installers got together with the goal of advancing the installation and construction technologies as well as to provide a central clearinghouse for worldwide industry information. The founding members of IAGI were passionately committed to advancing the level of professionalism for geosynthetic installers. These founders created a strong organization that has evolved and continues to serve the needs of the industry 10 years later.
IAGI promotes the geosynthetic installation profession and advances the practice through education, communication and industry liaisons. IAGI works to increase the industry’s awareness of and appreciation for the professional geosynthetic installer.

What is Geosynthetic Installation?

Geosynthetic installers encompass the planning, fabrication, and installation of geosynthetic materials in a wide variety of applications. Types of project include: landfill liners and caps, wastewater treatment ponds, landscape ponds, mining heap leach pads, reclamation sites, floating covers, and other containment applications.

Public Relations and Industry Liasons

IAGI publishes a quarterly newsletter that keeps its members abreast of the latest developments occurring in the industry. The Association also works with government agencies on the development and refinement of industry-related specifications and guidance documents.
IAGI’s website features reference for the professional installer. IAGI also maintains a searchable industry directory on the www.iagi.org website. This list can be searched by a variety of criteria.

Information Resources and Services

Other key IAGI programs and services include IAGI’s Certified Welding Technician (CWT) Program. This program was designed to test the knowledge and skill of the welding technicians and reward those who meet a minimum level of proficiency with industry acknowledgement. IAGI has developed a standard installation guideline and construction methodologies for professional installers to follow. This guideline is available under the publications section.
